Whole House Water Filter System – Standard
High-flow, three-stage filtration for cleaner water throughout your home.
The Standard Whole House Water Filter is designed to treat water as it enters the property, providing filtered water to your kitchen, bathrooms, showers, laundry and appliances.
Three full-size 20" × 4.5" Big Blue stages combine sediment filtration with two MATRIKX® CTO Plus carbon block cartridges. With flow rates of up to approximately 50 litres per minute, the system is designed for normal household water demand without the restrictions of smaller drinking-water filters.
Standard Whole House System at a Glance
Three-stage 20" × 4.5" Big Blue filtration
Suitable for mains water and appropriately configured rainwater systems
Flow rates up to approximately 50 litres per minute
Stage 1 sediment filtration
Stage 2 MATRIKX® CTO Plus carbon block
Stage 3 MATRIKX® CTO Plus carbon block
Reduces sediment, chlorine, chloramines, PFAS, VOCs, tastes and odours
UV-stabilised, BPA-free housings
Low pressure drop when correctly sized and installed
5-year housing warranty
Optional stainless-steel frame and weather cover for when mounting out in the direct sun and elements rather than against the hours wall.
Why Choose the Standard Whole House System?
Unlike an under-sink filter that treats only drinking water, a whole-house system filters the incoming supply before it is distributed throughout the property.
This means water used for showering, bathing, washing clothes, cleaning and filling kitchen taps has already passed through the filtration system.
The Standard model is particularly well suited to households wanting high-flow reduction of sediment, chlorine, chloramines, PFAS and general chemical contaminants throughout the home.
How the Three Stages Work
Stage 1 – Sediment Pre-Filter
The first stage captures dirt, sand, rust and suspended particles, helping protect the carbon cartridges and reducing particulate matter entering your household plumbing.
Stage 2 – MATRIKX® CTO Plus Carbon Block
The second stage uses coconut-shell activated carbon to reduce chlorine, chloramines, unpleasant tastes and odours, PFAS, VOCs and other organic chemical contaminants.
Stage 3 – MATRIKX® CTO Plus Carbon Block
The final stage uses a second MATRIKX® CTO Plus cartridge, providing additional carbon capacity and further contact time for chlorine, chloramines, PFAS, VOCs, tastes, odours and other organic chemical contaminants.
Using two carbon cartridges in series provides greater overall adsorption capacity than a single carbon stage and makes the Standard system an excellent option for everyday mains-water filtration.

Filter Life & Maintenance
Replacement frequency depends on household water use, incoming water quality, sediment levels and the contaminants present. As a general guide, an annual cartridge change is a sensible starting point for many households.
The sediment cartridge should be inspected periodically, particularly after installation, as it provides a useful indication of what is entering the property.
Carbon-cartridge life varies with water quality, chlorine levels, flow rate and total household water consumption.
We recommend replacing cartridges at sensible intervals rather than pushing them to their maximum capacity.

Installation & Weather Protection
The system is installed on the main cold-water supply and should be fitted by a suitably qualified plumber.
For sheltered installations, the standard mounting bracket may be sufficient. For exposed outdoor installations, we recommend the stainless-steel frame and protective cover to help shield the housings from prolonged sun and weather exposure.
Mains Water & Rainwater
For chlorinated mains water, the Standard system provides broad whole-house filtration for sediment, chlorine, chloramines, PFAS and other contaminants addressed by the installed cartridges.
Rainwater and untreated supplies require additional consideration because water quality can vary significantly. Where microbiological contamination is a concern, additional treatment such as UV may be recommended.
Please contact us before purchasing for tank, bore, river or other untreated water sources.
What About Drinking Water?
Whole-house filtration significantly improves the water entering the property, but we still recommend a dedicated drinking-water filter at the kitchen tap as a final safeguard.
We commonly pair this system with a single-stage Doulton under-sink filter for an additional point-of-use filtration stage.
Standard vs Premium
Both systems use the same three-stage Big Blue housing configuration.
Standard: sediment → MATRIKX® CTO Plus → MATRIKX® CTO Plus
Premium: sediment → MATRIKX® CTO Plus → Aragon Plus
The Standard model is ideal where sediment, chlorine, chloramines, PFAS, taste, odour and general chemical reduction are the main priorities.
The Premium model replaces the final MATRIKX® CTO Plus cartridge with an Aragon Plus cartridge for customers wanting broader contaminant reduction.
