British Berkefeld® 8.5L Stainless Steel Gravity Water Filter – Ultra Fluoride
More water for your daily routine, with fluoride reduction already built in.
From filling bottles before work to preparing the evening meal, the British Berkefeld® 8.5L keeps filtered water within easy reach. Its practical middle size gives couples and small families more water between refills while fitting comfortably into many everyday kitchens.
The system includes two UK-made Ultra Fluoride ceramic filters. Each combines everyday filtration and fluoride reduction in one element, so there’s no separate fluoride attachment to buy or maintain.
Why You’ll Love It
All-in-one fluoride filtration: tested to reduce fluoride by up to 98.9%*, alongside other common contaminants.
No pressure priming required: complete the initial conditioning process, then fill and let gravity do the work.
A practical family size: 7.8 litres of filtered-water storage in a system just 22.4cm wide.
UK-made ceramic filters: manufactured by Doulton, celebrating 200 years of water-filtration heritage in 2026.
No plumbing or electricity: suitable for homes, rentals, holiday cabins and off-grid living.

Why Choose the British Berkefeld® 8.5L?
A balance of capacity and benchtop space The 8.5L model offers more filtered-water storage than the compact 6L without stepping up to the largest system. It’s a practical choice for couples, small families and households that regularly use filtered water for both drinking and cooking.
Fluoride reduction in the same filter Each Ultra Fluoride element combines ceramic filtration with fluoride-reduction media. Both included filters perform the same job, giving you an all-in-one setup without additional filters hanging beneath them.
British filtration expertise since 1826 The included ceramic elements are manufactured in the UK by Doulton. With two centuries of water-filtration heritage, Doulton brings established expertise to the filters at the heart of your system.
Straightforward setup and maintenance There’s no need to pressure-prime the filters against a tap. Assemble the system and follow the supplied conditioning instructions before drinking the filtered water. The ceramic surfaces can be cleaned as directed to help maintain flow.
Filtered water wherever you settle No permanent installation means the system can move with you between homes or accompany you to a holiday property. Gravity powers the filtration, making it useful in locations without mains electricity.
What Does It Reduce?
The Ultra Fluoride elements are designed to:
Reduce fluoride by up to 98.9% under the stated test conditions.*
Reduce chlorine and improve taste and odour.
Reduce heavy metals, including lead.
Filter bacteria, cysts and fine particles.
They retain naturally occurring minerals rather than stripping the water of all dissolved solids.
What to Expect from Ceramic Filtration Water passes gradually through the ceramic elements, so allow time for filtration rather than expecting instant filtered water after filling. Flow varies with water level, source-water quality, conditioning and filter cleanliness.
Refilling as part of your daily routine helps keep filtered water available when you need it.

Filter Replacement Replace the included pair of Ultra Fluoride filters after approximately 3,000 litres, or sooner depending on incoming water quality and fluoride concentration.
Actual filter life varies with water conditions and usage. Follow the instructions supplied with your filters.
Cleaning the ceramic surface can help restore flow, but does not renew exhausted fluoride-reduction media.
Installation & Conditioning No plumbing, electrical connection or pressure priming is required. Initial conditioning is still necessary before drinking the filtered water.
Follow the instructions accompanying your system or watch our installation and conditioning video guides →
A Note on TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) New ceramic filters can temporarily raise TDS readings as small amounts of soluble minerals enter the water during conditioning. These filters also retain naturally occurring minerals, so a lower reading after filtration isn’t necessarily expected.
A higher reading alone does not mean your filter is faulty. TDS meters cannot confirm fluoride reduction or water safety. Follow the supplied conditioning instructions and contact us if elevated readings persist.

Up to 98.9% fluoride reduction based on Doulton in-house testing using a nominal incoming fluoride concentration of 1ppm. Actual performance and filter life can vary according to water quality, fluoride concentration, usage and correct filter conditioning.
